According to a report by the United Nations, while India has made a significant improvement in primary education enrollment, the figures for children with disability are staggering. 34% of children with disabilities (in the age-group of 6-14) are out of school. The percentages are even higher among children with intellectual disabilities (48%), speech impairments (36%) and multiple disabilities (59%).
Sol’s Arc nurtures the innate abilities of children and youth with special needs through a research based approach of curriculum development, implementation and therapy. GMSP is a proud supporter of Sol’s Arc’s pilot project in Rajasthan, which aims to provide end-to-end special education solutions to both mainstream as well asspecial schools. The project would range from identification to measuring baseline-learning levels to providing intervention and then ensuring improved learning outcomes by post testing after intervention.
While children with special needs avail some form of education, the youth and adults experience a huge gap of services post their schooling age. We also support Sol’s Arc’s Pathway Life Academy Program, which is working towards improving employability of adults with special needs.
